Breakfast this morning was a bowl of oatmeal and almond milk (mixed the night before and left to soak in the fridge overnight) with some sesame & sunflower seeds for some healthy oils. I also threw in a few goji berries and banana slices for some fruit action.
FAITH
Last month Jason and I watched a documentary that opened our eyes to a horrifying world-problem happening right now.
It was called Nefarious: Merchant of Souls, and it revealed the real-world issue of human trafficking.
The documentary itself was excellent and can be rented here. Proceeds go to Exodus Cry, the organization that created the film and continues to fight to end sex slavery.
Since the actual documentary is a full-length film, below is a short video that barely scratches the surface of the slavery occurring in our world today. It at least provides some statistics to chew on.
After watching Nefarious, I was sick. I felt the urgent need to do something, but wasn’t sure where to begin.
- The first place I started was with PRAYER. I have a weekly prayer calendar where I pray for a different family member, friend, country and ministry organization every day of the week. I added “human trafficking” to the list.
- Second, I resolved to help the many people who have already started to RAISE AWARENESS. It’s hard to fight against an enemy that remains invisible to so many. (For example, sex trafficking occurs in many of our hometowns or during high-profile sporting events like the Super Bowl).
- Third, the problem won’t resolve itself. We need to team up with people already fighting to make a difference by volunteering our RESOURCES, whether time or support or finances. One place to start is here.
AND NOW, for all you local folk:
Here is a chance for you to respond and do something about it today. Hope Run Kenosha is hosting a 5k run or 2 mile walk in efforts to raise funds and awareness to the human trafficking that is occurring here in our own county of Kenosha.
The race is @ 6:30PM on Friday, June 6th. Registration deadline is May 23rd. You can sign up here.
Do something to help fight human trafficking today!
