Good afternoon, all.
How are everyone’s Saturdays? This weekend is a nice relaxing one with family. My parents moved to San Francisco some five years for my dad’s job, but are now moving back to the Midwest. And we are so very excited to have them home again!
My crazy family.
FOOD
Last night we all went out for a Friday Night fish-fry. (If you’re from the Midwest, that should sound very familiar to you!) We patronized The Shanty, a local restaurant that has been featured several times on the Food Network!
I got the Walleye, broiled with sautéed veggies and the lentil soup. Mm, mm!
FITNESS
Last week in Myrtle Beach I did something funky to my hip flexor during the beach challenges. I figured my three-day fast would give it enough rest time from fitness to heal up, but I still feel it… I’m deciding to give it one more day before trying a workout, because I’ve learned that it’s better to let these things heal up completely before hitting the gym again… Otherwise you just end up prolonging the whole process! Patience is key. Even if it’s been almost three weeks since I’ve been to the gym.
What’s a gym again?
FAITH
Speaking of patience, check out Ecclesiastes 7:8-9:
Finishing is better than starting. Patience is better than pride. Control your temper, for anger labels you a fool.
Yeahhh, as I confessed a few posts ago, I’ve been struggling with patience lately. I honestly don’t know where it comes from, as many people would tell you growing up that I was one of the most patient people they knew! I suspect that impatience goes hand-in-hand with stress. Francis Chan says in his book Crazy Love:
Stress says that the things we are involved in are important enough to merit our impatience, our lack of grace toward others, or our tight grip of control.
Wow, that’s so convicting. Seriously, read it again.
Since when did my stress give me the right to snap at my husband? Or get irritated with my first graders?
Lord, I surrender my stress to you. I’m sorry for the impatience that I have displayed in my life. You are in control over all things, which leaves nothing left in my dominion of control, so I have nothing to stress over. It is all in good hands. Thank you for the gentle reminders and Your help with these things.
Amen!
QUESTION OF THE DAY
How is your stress/impatience level lately?
