It’s Thursday… which means another Q&A!
Featured today is my sister-in-law, Katie.
If you’re going to marry into a family and pick up a sister, she might as well be awesome. :)
Katie is active in our church youth group, loves working out, and is passionate about her line of work: nutrition and wellness. She got her Registered Dietitian license at the University of Illinois-Chicago and works as a Nutritionist at her Chiropractic office.
It’s fabulous having a nutritionist in the family, especially when it comes to my personal journey of learning healthy cooking, eating, living. I swear, every time we get together I learn something new about what I’m putting in my mouth.
Let’s hear what Katie has to say for this week’s Thursday Q&A:
Thursday Q&A: Katie M.
28 y/o – Round Lake Beach, IL – Registered Dietitian (RD) and Massage Therapist
He is my Creator, King, Lord and Savior
Yes, in my living room in the morning usually over breakfast. I have a number of different things I read, lately I have been reading a chapter in John a day, but I also read a book called Discipleship Essentials for a small group that I am a part of in my church. I will also spend time praying after I read.
I don’t have a favorite verse, but Colossians chapter 3 has always been a favorite passage.
Yes, I try to run 3-5 times per week (when the weather is not atrocious) of 2-3.5 miles. I also practice yoga 1x/week, Spin 1x/week, and either go to boot camp class or lift weights 1x/week.
I don’t intentionally listen to music during workouts, but in my classes, I would say I prefer something really upbeat with motivating lyrics. So yes, that means I run without any music :)
Crab cakes are probably my favorite food, which I typically only get on my birthday when my Dad makes them for me from scratch gluten and dairy free. I really should make them for myself one of these days…
Over the past 5 months or so, God has humbled me and taught me to really take an honest look at myself and see where my priorities lie. He has gently brought me back to a right relationship with Him by showing me the areas in my life that I needed to let go of such as control, selfishness, and pride in my marriage. I am now actively making sure that my priorities stay lined up right: 1. God 2. My husband 3. Family 4. Everyone else 5. Myself
